Cesanese is a grape from possibly as early as ancient Roman times, at least it comes across that way. Blended with Montepulciano in this iteration, it shows surprising depth and smoothness with a broad palate of chalky tannins and satisfying cherry and strawberry notes.  A true overachiever that can go well with barbecue fare and as a cocktail wine.
