50% Petite Sirah, 30% Mission, 20% Zinfandel. No added sulfur and aged 10 months in used oak. An aromatic nose with notes of black tea, tobacco leaf, and dried fig. There is ripe juicy elderberry, blueberry, and plum fruit on the palate with a gently grippy savory finish.
Monte Rio Cellars is a collaboration between longtime friends sommelier Patrick Cappiello and acclaimed winemaker Pax Mahle. Patrick and Pax's philosophy is to make hand-crafted wines in the spirit of old California. With this idea in mind, they work with family-owned, organically farmed vineyards and keep the winemaking simple.
